Autoridade Nacional de Proteccao Civil (ANPC)
The Portuguese National Authority for Civil Protection (ANPC) is a public, central administration service that has, at its core, the mission to plan, to coordinate and to execute the national civil protection policy, namely in regards to prevention and reaction to severe accidents and catastrophes requiring relief operations. ANPC’s mission extends towards supervising firefighter’s operational activity as well as assuring planning and coordination of national safety requirements in case of a crisis or war. Under the Law, this Authority also has attributions in the fields of hazard prediction and risk management, emergency planning, civil protection logistics as well as verifying conformity to applicable rules.
