When disaster strikes, everybody is concerned in one way or another. CARISMAND project aims to reach various audiences: scientists and emergency workers, policy makers and citizens, SMEs and civil society, etc.

The Dissemination and Communication Strategy of CARISMAND project reflects the current changes in the environment and the new findings revealed in throughout the project implementation. An updated summary of the strategy is already published on our Deliverables page.
CARISMAND has been presented at several international conferences, workshops, drills, and other events for both specialised and general audiences. Such public appearances were:
- UNISDR Science and Technology Conference on the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction from 2016, attended by the team of the Valencia City Council-Local Police (PLV), Spain
- “Major Cities of Europe” annual conference from 2016 where CARISMAND was represented by the University of Florence and the Municipality of Florence;
- International IT Law Symposium (IRIS) 2017 in Salzburg at which partners from the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universität Hannover (LUH) presented the theme “Social Media Intelligence for Disaster Management – Does the End Justify the Means?”;
- EENA Conference 2017 where information about CARISMAND was shared by partners from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) and the Romanian Special Telecommunications Service;
- Flood Drill in Florence, organised by the Municipality of Florence in 2016;
- GFDRR Workshop 2017 in Rome, attended by member of the Laboratory of Citizenship Sciences (LSC), Italy; and a number of other occasions.
We are also open for cooperation with other projects addressing issues within the disaster-management area – resilience and public awareness, technology use in emergencies, community involvement, human rights during crisis, etc.
CARISMAND public events are also part of the responsibilities undertaken by the team of Work Package 10 “Dissemination, Communication, Event Organisation”. According to CARISMAND schedule, the following public events gathered both members of the disaster communities and local citizens:
- First Stakeholder Assembly, 14-15 April 2016, Bucharest, Romania
- First Citizen Summit, 09 July 2016, Bucharest, Romania
- Second Citizen Summit, 16 July 2016, Malta
- Second Stakeholder Assembly, 27-28 February 2017, Rome, Italy
