With an Annual Conference the International Council of Voluntary Agencies (ICVA) started a line of events held in Geneva between 28th and 30th March 2017.
The conference will look into the question “How can humanitarian civil society better navigate a complex world?” and will focus on the importance of NGO engagement with host governments.
The topics of discussion included in the conference information pack are:
- What do we mean by ‘humanitarian civil society’? Is the operational space of humanitarian NGOs shrinking or evolving? What are the regional and global drivers impacting this shift?
- What changes are NGOs witnessing and experiencing in humanitarian contexts?
- What approaches do NGOs currently use to engage with host governments? How can more effective engagement between NGOs and host governments help NGOs in their ability to operate at the field level?
The Annual Conference will be followed by Members’ meetings and workshops on 29th March and an NGO Symposium on 30th March.
More information about the conference and the following events could be found at ICVA’s website: https://www.icvanetwork.org/
